Casillas: I was the puppet that people liked playing with>>>

Iker Casillas has confirmed that near the end of his spell with Real Madrid he felt like a puppet that people were playing with.

The Spanish goalkeeper was discussing matters relating to his departure from the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu as well his relationship with Jose Mourinho.

In an interview with XL Semanal magazine, the former Real Madrid captain was asked about his decision to leave and Casillas was very clear in his reasoning.

"I had to decide between staying and being the puppet that people liked playing with," he began.

"I looked out for the interests of Real Madrid every single day, if I'd have looked more for myself we would've had a circus every day, especially in my final season."

On the subject of his relationship with Jose Mourinho, Casillas was far from complementary.

"That bad relationship [with Mourinho] made people become divided.

"It was very uncomfortable because in the dressing room there were two people whose relationship was deteriorating."

It is both a great mystery and downright shame that Casillas' relationship with Real ended so spectacularly.

The bad feeling still rankles with the goalkeeper and he confirmed that one day he would release his side of the story.

"Someday I will tell you why I had to leave and when I write a book in 15 years, I will tell you," he is quoted as saying.

Casillas is coming to the end of his debut season in Portugal with Porto and has a chance of representing Spain at the European Championships.
