There was great expectation from the crowd at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis as France hosted Romania in the opening match of the tournament.

France edged Romania 2-1 in the UEFA EURO 2016 curtain-raiser in Paris. The winner of the European finals will qualify for the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017.
