GOLF:Open Championship venue set to vote on women members Royal Troon>>>
SPORT DADDY NEWS GOLF
Royal Troon, the host of the 2016 Open Championship, will vote on allowing women members on Friday.
Troon is the only club on the Open rota to have a male-only membership policy.
A majority is needed to remove the ban, with the club reporting in June that "over three quarters of the members" supported admitting female members.
Muirfield still has a ban on female members and has been told by the governing body they cannot stage another Open until it is removed.
That left Troon as the only club on the Open that has men-only membership after Royal St George's, which hosted the Open in 2011, voted last year to end its 128-year ban on female members.
The club consulted members in May over the its men-only policy but brought forward a vote on the issue following Muirfield's ban.
Muirfield said in June it wanted to hold a fresh ballot on admitting female members before the end of the year.
The 145th Open Championship will begin on 14 July.

Barcelona wary of last-minute Neymar snub>>>
SPORT DADDY NEWS SPORT
BarcelonaClub director in Brazil to finalise contract renewal
In hoping to avoid last minute hitches in Neymar's contract renewal with the La Liga champions, Barcelona are growing increasingly confident that they will hold off rivals offers, whether they come from Paris, Madrid, or Manchester.
They know that the player is happy playing alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez at the Camp Nou, but are taking nothing for granted until the Brazilian puts pen to paper.
The forward's father has eased concerns with comments at the weekend in which he insisted that his son would be going nowhere, yet those within the club will wait until the ink dries on the contract before celebrating.
"I think the probability of [Neymar going to Real Madrid] is zero," the player's father said in an interview with Fox Brazil.
Those in the club's hierarchy are relaxed about the situation, but continue to work on completing the extension given that the links with Paris Saint-Germain - who could pay his €190 million release clause and double his salary to €50m per year - have yet to die down, along with similar interest from Manchester City.
In order to monitor the latest developments and to provide a direct link between the president Josep Maria Bartomeu and the player, club director Raul Sanllehi has been in Brazil since June 16 to liaise with the player's entourage and keep tabs on any interest from other clubs.
"With the renewal of [Sergio] Busquets, which also was long and complex, we were in constant contact with his representative Josep Maria Orobitg, but with Neymar that possibility doesn't exist because he is in Brazil, which is why Sanllehi fulfils that role," sources at the club informed MARCA.
The Catalan club will have to weather the storm for a few more days as they want to include the renewal in the 2016/17 economic year in order to avoid a negative balance for the current season and, as such, they must wait until July 1.
The day before that, Bartomeu will hold a press conference, at which updates on the negotiations are expected.

USA Basketball Olympic team roster 2016>>>
SPORT DADDY NEWS NBA
Featuring six Olympic and/or FIBA World Cup gold medalists, USA Basketball unveiled its official 12-man 2016 U.S. Olympic Men's Basketball Team.
Selected for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team, which is seeking a third consecutive Olympic title, were: Carmelo Anthony (New York Knicks/Syracuse); Harrison Barnes (Golden State Warriors/North Carolina); Jimmy Butler (Chicago Bulls/Marquette); DeMarcus Cousins (Sacramento Kings/Kentucky); DeMar DeRozan (Toronto Raptors/USC); Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City Thunder/Texas); Paul George (Indiana Pacers/Fresno State); Draymond Green (Golden State Warriors/Michigan State); Kyrie Irving (Cleveland Cavaliers/Duke); DeAndre Jordan (Los Angeles Clippers/Texas A&M); Kyle Lowry (Toronto Raptors/Villanova); and Klay Thompson (Golden State Warriors/Washington State).
The U.S. Olympic Men' Basketball Team was approved by the USA Basketball Board of Directors and is pending final approval by the United States Olympic Committee.
"I think I can speak for the entire coaching staff and say we're extremely excited about the team we will field for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro," said Jerry Colangelo, who has served as managing director of the USA Men's National Team since 2005.
"I love our depth, which is another indication of the depth of talent our national team program is blessed with. We've got a great mix of talent, scorers, past gold medal winners and outstanding youth."
"I'm anxious to get on the court, and along with my great coaching staff, get to work," said USA head coach Mike Krzyzewski, who by serving as head coach of his third Olympic squad is now tied with coaching legend Henry Iba for the most U.S. Olympic basketball head coaching assignments. "Since 2006 and including the last two Olympics, our players have represented themselves, the game and our country in an exemplary manner. I know this team will continue that standard.
"Looking at this team, our overall balance is what strikes me. We have lightning-quick guards who can score as well as distribute the basketball. We have great shooters and explosive scorers, we're big and athletic, and I think we'll really be able to defend."
The U.S. roster features the return of two members from the 2012 gold medalist U.S. Olympic Team (Anthony and Durant) and five players who have been members of USA World Cup gold medalist teams; Cousins (2014), DeRozan (2014), Durant (2010), Irving (2014) and Thompson (2014).
With his selection to the 2016 Olympic Team, three-time Olympic medalist Anthony becomes the first United States male basketball player selected to four Olympic teams.
Durant, who collected MVP honors in leading the USA to gold at the 2010 FIBA World Championship and finished as the U.S. team's leading scorer at the 2012 London Olympics by averaging a U.S. Olympic record 19.5 points a game, was named to his second Olympic team.
The average age of the 12 U.S. players will be 26.8 years at the conclusion of the Olympics (Aug. 21, 2016).
Included among the named 2016 U.S. Olympians were 2015-16 All-NBA first team selection Jordan; second team choices Cousins, Durant and Green; and third team picks George, Lowry and Thompson. Additionally, Jordan and Green collected 2015-16 NBA All-Defensive first team honors, while Butler and George were second team selections.
Nine players -- Anthony, Butler, Cousins, DeRozan, Durant, George, Green, Lowry and Thompson -- were named as 2016 NBA All-Stars, while Irving, who was named MVP of the 2014 World Cup after helping lead the Americans to gold, recently helped Cleveland capture the 2016 NBA championship.
The 2016 USA coaching staff is led by Duke University Hall of Fame mentor Krzyzewski, who since being named in 2005 head mentor of the USA National Team program has compiled a spectacular 75-1 record and led the USA to 2008 and 2012 Olympic gold medals and 2010 and 2014 FIBA World Cup titles. He will be assisted by Syracuse University Hall of Fame mentor Jim Boeheim, Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Tom Thibodeau and Monty Williams.
The USA National Team will train July 18-21 in Las Vegas, Nev. The Americans' Las Vegas training concludes July 22 (6:00 p.m. PDT) with the USA Basketball Showcase presented By Verizon that features the USA facing Argentina at the T-Mobile Arena.
The U.S. will play two exhibition games versus 2015 FIBA Asia zone champ China, the first at the Staples Center in Los Angeles at 5 p.m. (PDT) on July 24 and the second at 7 p.m. (PDT) on July 26 at Oracle Arena in Oakland. Continuing its exhibition tour in Chicago, the USA will play on July 29 at 8 p.m. (CDT) at the United Center versus 2015 FIBA Americas gold medalist Venezuela and will conclude the USA Basketball Showcase facing 2015 FIBA Africa zone champion Nigeria on Aug. 1 at 7 p.m. (CDT) in Houston at the Toyota Center.
Tickets for the USA Basketball Showcase exhibition games are on sale now. VIP ticket packages available in select markets. For ticket information visit usab.com/showcase.
The U.S. men have collected a medal in all 17 Olympics in which they have competed, including 14 gold medals, one silver and two bronze medals. The American men own an impressive 130-5 (.963 winning percentage) all-time record in Olympic action, and since NBA players began representing the United States in 1992, the USA is 45-3 in six Olympics, capturing five gold medals and one bronze medal.
Since the formation of USA Basketball's national team program in 2006, USA National Teams have compiled a spectacular 75-1 record and claimed top honors in five of six FIBA and FIBA Americas competitions. Currently, USA national teams enjoy a 63-game win streak (45 straight wins in FIBA and FIBA Americas competitions and 18 consecutive wins in exhibition games). The streaks dates back to the bronze medal game (Sept. 2, 2006) of the 2006 FIBA World Championship in Japan.
The USA also currently enjoys a 17-game Olympic win streak that dates back to the bronze medal game of the 2004 Athens Olympics.
Since first fielding a USA Basketball team of legendary NBA stars in 1992, USA Basketball National Teams comprised of NBA players have claimed gold medals in 14 of 16 major international basketball competitions, while compiling an impressive 126-7 overall record (.947 winning percentage) in those competitions and a record of 46-1 (.979 winning percentage) in exhibition games.
Tony Ferguson gets newcomer, Lineker-McDonald now UFC Sioux Falls main event>>>
SPORT DADDY NEWS UFC
Tony Ferguson does have a replacement opponent for the injured Michael Chiesa at UFC Fight Night in South Dakota, but he'll no longer be the main event.
For the 2nd time this year, a UFC main event featuring Tony Ferguson has been called off. In April, Ferguson had to pull out of his UFC on FOX 19 showdown with Khabib Nurmagomedovdue to a lung problem. Khabib remained on the card against Darrell Horcher, but lost his headlining status. This time around, with Ferguson set to fight Michael Chiesa at UFC Fight Night 91 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Chiesa had to withdraw after suffering a ruptured disc. Much like Khabib back in April, Ferguson won't be the main event anymore, and he will end up fighting a UFC newcomer.
UFC officials on Tuesday announced that "El Cucuy" (20-3) will take on unbeaten prospect Landon Vannata (8-0). Instead of a five-round affair, it will be a three-round co-main event. Vannata (or "Groovy Lando" as he's also known) has won 7 fights by stoppage, with 6 of them coming in the opening round. The Jackson-Winkeljohn product is just 24 years old and appeared on the undercard of RFA 32 in November 2015, when he knocked out Chad Curry in just under 90 seconds. He'll have the task of pulling off a massive upset against the #3 ranked lightweight contender Ferguson, who has won his last 7 fights, including a thrilling d'arce choke win over Edson Barboza at the TUF 22 Finale in December.
With the change of opponent, the UFC has done some reshuffling with this July 13th event. The new headliner is a bantamweight fight betweenMichael McDonald and John Lineker, which was initially scheduled as the night's co-main event. Lineker has never been in a UFC main event before, whereas McDonald headlined for the interim bantamweight title against Renan Barao on a UFC on Fuel TV card in February 2013.

Wimbledon Day 2: Nick Kyrgios, Bernard Tomic, Serena Williams and Andy Murray in action>>>
SPORT DADDY NEWS TENNIS
LLEYTON Hewitt is backing Nick Kyrgios and Bernard Tomic to rise to the occasion when Australia’s two biggest hopes launch their Wimbledon title quests tonight.
The two former quarter-finalists face early tests as they strive to join Samantha Stosur in the second round of the grasscourt major.
Kyrgios meets crafty Czech veteran Radek Stepanek, while Tomic takes on big-serving Spaniard Fernando Verdasco, arguably the most dangerous unseeded player in the men’s draw.
But Hewitt believes Australia’s seeded stars not only have the class to overcome their first-round hurdles, but also the big-match temperament and grasscourt know-how to challenge for grand slam glory at the All England Club.
Murray, Williams and Aussie hopeful Daria Gavrilova are among those in action
“It’s probably their favourite surface. Guys like Nick and Bernie, they love playing on the big courts in front of the big stadiums,” Hewitt, the 2001 champion, said on the tournament eve.
“That’s what you need if you’re ever going to hold up the trophy.”
John Millman, Jordan Thompson, qualifiers Luke Saville and Matt Barton and women’s hope Daria Gavrilova also play their openers on Tuesday, along with women’s top seed Serena Williams and men’s second seed Andy Murray.

5 Things to know: Billy Hurley III's win is the best golf story of the year>>>
SPORT DADDY NEWS GOLF
The Quicken Loans National didn't have the best field and didn't have the most exciting finish in golf this year, but it produced the best story in golf in 2016 that will not be topped.
1. Billy Hurley III's win at Congressional is the best story of the year. Dustin Johnson's U.S. Open win was fantastic, but one week later, Hurley became the best story in golf with his victory. Hurley III -- from Leesburg, Virginia, not far from Congressional -- was 607th in the world before the Quicken Loans National and had never won on the PGA Tour or the Web.com Tour prior to Sunday. He served five years in the Navy out of college, delaying the start of his professional golf career, and a year ago at this very tournament he announced that his father was missing -- his father later killed himself. The win was incredibly emotional, and he was as popular a tournament champion both with fans at the event and fellow players, as anyone you'll ever see.
2. Vijay Singh is going to the British Open. The ageless wonder finished solo-second at the Quicken Loans National and punched his ticket to Royal Troon in a few weeks. Singh, along with Hurley III, Harold Varner III and Jon Rahm, were the top four finishers in the top 12 that did not already have exemption to Royal Troon. For the 53-year-old Singh, it's an impressive accomplishment to qualify for a major on merit and not just off past champion status.
3. Jon Rahm is the real deal. Rahm was the top-rated amateur in the world for good reason and has shown off his skills the last two weeks, finishing in the top 25 at the U.S. Open and then posting a T3 finish at Congressional. He gained some important experience as a 36-hole leader that he can take going forward, earning a fat paycheck and a spot at Royal Troon. That's not bad for the first week on the job. We'll see if he hits a rough patch similar to Bryson DeChambeau, but even if so, both of them are going to be factors for a long time.
4. Bryson DeChambeau's issues in regular tournaments continue. Speaking of DeChambeau, he finished T15 at the U.S. Open last week and looked like he was about to turn around his season after a run of four straight missed cuts had dampened the start to his pro career. DeChambeau fell back into his regular PGA Tour doldrums at Congressional with a T64 finish. It was a made cut and a paycheck, but he's running out of sponsor exemptions to get the points needed (361) to obtain temporary status for the season and then make a push for a Tour card for 2016-17.
5. Rickie Fowler still has some issues to figure out. Fowler finished T44 this week despite a strong 68-68 start. His weekend disappointed as he went 73-74 on Saturday and Sunday, never factoring into the discussion for winning after starting the week as the tournament favorite. Since his T4 at the Wells Fargo in Charlotte, Fowler has missed three cuts and posted this T44 finish and has seen him drop to seventh in the world rankings. He needs to turn things around soon as he's also slid down to eighth on the U.S. Ryder Cup points list.
Let's go Inside the Numbers that defined this weekend.
10.23 -- Hurley III's strokes gained on approaches to the green which led the field.
438 -- The number of spots Hurley III jumped in the world rankings from 607 to 169 with his win.
99 -- The combined age of Els and Singh, who both finished in the top 7. 21-year-old Rahm made his pro debut and finished T3.
$400,200 -- The amount of money made by Rahm in his first week as a professional golfer. Not a bad start to a career.

Report: Kyrie Irving, Barnes round out Team USA>>>
SPORT DADDY NEWS NBA
The U.S. basketball team has its roster for Rio.
Kyrie Irving and Harrison Barnes accepted spots on the team to fill out the Americans' 12-player Olympic squad, a person with knowledge of the details said Saturday.
The decisions come two days before the Americans plan to announce the team in New York. They were confirmed to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because roster details were to remain private.
The Americans had received 10 confirmations by Thursday and were holding spots for Irving and LeBron James, who wanted more time to decide after winning the NBA championship. James opted not to play but Irving should be an important player after a number of top point guards, including Stephen Curry, Russell Westbrook and Chris Paul, withdrew from consideration.
Irving was the MVP of the 2014 Basketball World Cup.
Once James passed on what would have been a fourth Olympics, the Americans settled on Barnes, who becomes the third Golden State player on the team. The swingman shot poorly in the NBA Finals as the Warriors lost to Cleveland in seven games.
The rest of the roster: Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant, New York's Carmelo Anthony, Toronto's Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan, Indiana's Paul George, Golden State's Draymond Green and Klay Thompson, Sacramento's DeMarcus Cousins, Chicago's Jimmy Butler and the Clippers' DeAndre Jordan.
It's not as experienced as recent U.S. teams, as only Durant and Anthony have played in the Olympics. The Americans lost a number of potential selections to injuries or other reasons in recent months, including James Harden, Anthony Davis and Blake Griffin.
Anthony will set a record by playing on his fourth U.S. team and could become the most decorated Olympic men's basketball player ever if he helps the Americans to a third straight gold medal.
ESPN first reported Irving would play. Barnes' decision was reported by Yahoo Sports.
